DIVORCE.
When people wonder what causes
divorce, they say faults could come from either the husband or the wife – it
could be infidelity or adultery and this goes on from generation to generations
in this manner. What bothers is that, what happens in one place is similar or
the same in other places.
The figures are mind-blowing
especially in the US, Europe and other regions of the world. Back in the days
when Jesus was on earth; the Pharisees asked Jesus about this subject2
but people misinterpreted what Jesus said about divorce. There were two things
Jesus said, He pointed out what Moses told them to do which was according to
the hardiness of the people’s heart which said that they can file a certificate
of divorce on the bases of adultery2: secondly He said God plan
marriage for both the man and the woman who are two people to become one flesh2
– one flesh. And then said
anyone who divorces his wife or anyone who divorces her husband commits adultery.
One flesh, the man shall leave
his father’s and mother’s house so also the woman (the cling to the man) and
becomes one flesh1. One
flesh is inseparable, that is the plan of God for marriage. To this end, God
created us in His image; in His image He created man and woman1: He
as God is trinity which can’t be separated from – The Father, The Son, and The
Holy Spirit is one. As we are God’s images, Jesus emphasis is that as the man
is one with the women they should not be separated at all, they should remain
one ever – no divorcing each other4, that is why it is important to
know who actually is your “born of my bone” (as Adam said)3. You
will notice that Adam didn’t marry any other wife but Eve.
Divorce is as a result of
immorality of the suspect either the wife or the husband. Immorality is
begotten from sexual lust desires of the flesh (the sinful nature indwelling in
man). And as God’s children born of Him, saved by Him; we are dead to sin and alive
in righteousness8.how can we who are born of God dead to sin live in
sin? Not anymore9. This case of sexual immorality is serious, that,
God said we defile our bodies when we commit sexual immoralities5.
Keeping the body safe from sexual immorality (which are enormous in today’s
world) is to glorify God who is holy. The couples who are legally married is
considered not defiling themselves because God instituted marriage but this
should not lead to sexual immorality to themselves.
If we who born of God6
how can we accept to be unclean in this manner. For we know that God is love
and He is holy in His entirety and for that reason we should be as He is,
because he has bought us with a price into His7. Jesus is the bridegroom
and Christians are the bride (Christians here are one body altogether); Jesus
will never divorce His bride at all, it is the bride that should not divorce her
bridegroom at all.
